Ceratostigma willmottianum
Open-branched, spreading, deciduous shrub with slender, bristly, mid-green stems. Lance-shaped to obovate, pointed, bristly, mid- to dark green, purple-margined leaves, to 5cm (2in) long, turn red in auutumn. From late summer to autumn, bears pale to mid-blue flowers, 2.5cm (1in) across, with red-purple tubes, in terminal or axillary, spike-like clusters.

Cultivation : Grow in moderately fertile, light, moist but well-drained soil in full sun.

This ceratostigma can be placed in the sun or semi-shade. Floßwers from August to October. The height of this plant is ca. 50cm. Prune in April. Deciduous. Before planting submerge the pot in a bucket of water for 10 minutes.
