Dryopteris erythrosora
(Autumn Fern)
Japan. Fronds 70 x 25cm, bipinate, deltate, red in spring gradually turning green as the season progresses. Easy in most sheltered ground, not pH sensitive. One of the very best and also one of the most popular garden ferns available.
'Brilliance'
A newly introduced cultivar which has been selected as more strongly coloured than the type. Any improvement is doubtful, however.
