Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears'
An open mound of horizontal leaves 11in. wide x 6½in high (28 x 16cm). Leaf blade 2-3 x 2-3in. (5-8 x 5-8cm), very thick, almost rubbery, rich blue-green, some dimpling, edge almost flat, leaf shallowly cupped, oval when young, nearly round with a mucronate tip when mature, lobes heart-shaped and open. Petiole stout, shallow, dark green.
Flower: bell-shaped, rich violet-striped lavender, in superb clusters, on a thick, upright, leafy, pale green, 8½in (21cm) scape from mid- to high summer; sterile.
Cultivation Notes: Site in some morning sun in cooler climates or in good light to light shade. Moderate growth rate. Reasonably pest tolerant. An excellent speciment for a rock garden, gravel bed, or a container. Already an iconic hosta with many excellent qualities.
