Camellia japonica 'Brushfield's Yellow'
Ideal for patio pots.
An evergreen shrub with glossy leaves producing medium anemone flowers, white in colour, with yellow petaloid centres.
Size: Approximately 4m (13') tall by 3.5m (11.5') in 10 years.
Site: Ideally in a sheltered spot in deep shade or partial shade, with a moist but well-drained neutral to acid (ericaceous) soil.
Plant as soon as possible after purchase
1. Improve soil structure by thorough digging before planting, mixing some peat or well-rotted ericaceous compost into the top soil.
2. Remove the pot. Plant into a small hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil, or up to 1cm (½") deeper. Firm gently and water-in thoroughly.
3. Water your shrub thoroughly whenever your soil is dry throughout its first growing season. Open flowers may be damaged by late spring frosts in sunny exposed sites.
4. Dead head flowers when faded. Remove any unwanted branches after flowering.
5. Top dress every spring with peat
