Selections from C. x williamsii (C. japonica x C. saluenensis) are strong-growing shrubs with eliptic to broadly eliptic, glossy, bright green leaves, 6-10cm (2½ - 4in) long. They bear white to deep pink flowers in mid- and late spring, unless stated otherwise. They usually resemble C. japonica in their foliage and C. saluenensis in their flowers.

'Tiptoe' is an upright shrub producing medium, semi-double, pale pink flowers.

Cultivation : Grow in moist but well-drained, humus-rich, acid (pH 5.5 - 6.5) soil; maintain a mulch, 5-7cm (2-3in) deep, of leaf mould or shredded bark.

Ideal for patio pots. An evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves producing medium, semi-double flowers, silvery pink deepening to cherry pink in colour.

Size: Approximately 4m (13') tall by 3.5m (11.5') in 10 years.

Site: Ideally in a sheltered spot in deep shade or partial shade, with a moist but well-drained neutral to acid (ericaceous) soil.

Water your shrub thoroughly whenever your soil is dry throughtout its first growing season. Open flowers may be damaged by late spring frosts in sunny exposed sites.

Dead head flowers when faded. Remove any unwanted branches after flowering.

Top dress every spring with peat.
