Viburnum plicatum f. plicatum
(Japanese snowball bush)
Spreading, bushy, deciduous shrub with heart-shaped, tapered, toothed, deeply veined, dark green leaves, to 10cm (4in) long, turning red-purple in autumn. In late spring, bears saucer-shaped sterile white flowers, to 3cm (1¼in) across, in dense, spherical, terminal cymes, 8cm (3in) across. Does not produce fruit.
